Triple Growth in Greece's Solar Photovoltaic Added Capacity
Data released by the Hellenic Photovoltaic Companies Association reveals that the installed capacity in Greece's solar market in 2022 was three times that of 2021.
According to comprehensive statistical analysis of the photovoltaic market by the Hellenic Photovoltaic Companies Association, the added photovoltaic capacity in 2022 amounted to 1.36GW, with the commercial and industrial installations surpassing residential photovoltaic installations by more than double. These figures are preliminary, as the Hellenic Renewable Energy Authority, Dapeep, has yet to formally announce the 2022 photovoltaic deployment numbers.
Earlier, the Dapeep published data indicating that Greece installed 932MW of new photovoltaic capacity in the first three quarters of 2022, excluding installation data under net metering, which will be announced separately by the country's distribution network operators.
Given the current developments in the photovoltaic market, the Greek government aims to foster residential development by introducing a new incentive plan specifically targeting residential solar + storage. The government has stated that the new scheme will be announced soon, possibly before the end of March 2023.
